Artist Statement:

Each piece of my work is unique and distinctive as result of varied elements, iterating process and my personal experience. Basically, it is started from lots of lines with two or three colors drawn in a canvas. By means of interlacing and crisscrossing these colored lines, I try to manipulate and structure a comprehensive visual image. After the iterating process of attaching tapes, coloring and removing tapes, only pigments remain on a canvas. Or, more specifically, it is an accumulative fruition of exertion mixed with pigments and tracks of time as well. During the process, many variations, such as materials of tapes, pigment concentration, flat wash techniques, and even climate as well as humidity, exercise influence over a whole picture. Therefore, not only is a work an extraordinary piece, but also it has fascinating and compelling characters.

During 2008 to 2009, I began to add some geometric figures which represent my emotions and expressions in my paintings. In my perspective, these figures are the ways to express my feelings in the moment by intuition and are directly unleashed on canvases. Hence, it requires certain distance and different angles in order to experience these figures inserted by personal sentiments.

I have been trying to arrange and settle a lot of feelings and emotions in my life since 2010. I devote myself to a thing or an event that has influence and marks on my life. This thing or event might be extremely tiny and veiled; however, I observe and think over it repeatedly with heart and soul through all my senses. After experiencing and understanding it, I transform my consciousness into work, which becomes “the significance of insignificant trivia” in my mind. The symbols and figures originally set in work are varied from different aspects. In addition to engaging audiences focus on a plane woven by lines, I attempt to make images fragmented and irregular to the maximum. And as to the picture composition, I try to break through the limits of canvases by adding prominent bumps made of pigments in order to interrupt balance. These prominent bumps are painted with the opposite color of a picture so that they can form a three-dimension effect. Under the conclusion that colors carry the weight of spirits and emotions, the color of my paintings varied from bright into deeper, heavier and more complicated visual art. It is the way to display my emotions that constantly accumulate and evolve in my life.
